Our business has benefited from some great help over the years of our expansion since going commercial in 2010 to where we are now. Quite simply we would not have been able to do what we do without their support and help.

The Welsh Government have been really supportive of us in building Wales’s first dedicated bee farm built from scratch. Parts of our new facility and honey handling were equipped with finance from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.

Meeting Lesley Griffiths

Lesley Griffiths, Rural Affairs Cabinet Secretary said

“I’m delighted to see the Welsh Government supporting this new and exciting opportunity, helping support rural jobs and having a positive effect on the environment and biodiversity. Bees play a vital part in our ecosystem and I’m proud Wales is leading the way in helping protect our insect pollinators while creating new opportunities within our food industry.”

Our Local Authority has also been very helpful with ensuring our permission for planning on the old coal mine went through from its officers and support from our local councillor Gwyneth Thomas and the Leader of Carmarthenshire County Council Emlyn Dole. On their visit prior to the construction the Leader of the Council said

“I am totally supportive of the new farm and I welcome the first dedicated bee farm to be built in Wales in here in Llangennech Carmarthenshire. It’s both good for the environment, inspirational use of the land whilst being supportive of the local economy by employing more staff and helping to bolster local retailers by offering a taste of the region. For them to win a Great Taste Award again this year they are evidently doing something right. I look forward to supporting it in its entirety and to the next visit when facilities are completed.”

Later we also received some funding from the Local Authority for some additional honey handling equipment from the Carmarthenshire Business Growth Fund.

We also are extremely grateful to the Ecology Building Society who fully backed our plans for a new facility that included living areas. The Society really stepped up to the mark with our project.

It was great to find a financial backer that fully understood our ethos and are highly ethical in making an impact with building a greener society by funding projects that support and promote ecological building practises and sustainable communities. We could not be happier with a financial backer that regards society and a greener future as its primary focus. Who else would we chose to help finance Wales’s first dedicated bee farm that’s built on top of an old coal mine?
